Home Care Packages (HCP)

What is a Home Care Package?

Home Care Packages provide individually planned and coordinated support services to help older people to remain living in their own home.

Home Care Packages are funded by the Commonwealth government and delivered by a range of aged care service providers including RusCare Ltd.

There are four levels of Home Care Packages:

Level 1

Supports people with basic care needs (similar to CHSP services)

Level 2

Supports people with low-level care needs (the former Community Aged Care Packages or CAPS’s)

Level 3

Supports people with intermediate care needs

Level 4

Supports people with high-level care needs (the former Extended Aged Care at Home EACH and Extended Aged Care at Home Dementia packages or EACHD)

The types of services provided under a Home Care Package depend on individual needs. The range of care and services include, but are not limited to, transport, social support, domestic assistance, personal care, home maintenance, home modification, nursing care, food service and medication.

How do I Access a Home Care Package?

In order to access funding for a Home Care Package, the person requiring support must be assessed by a member of the Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) team. The ACAS will assess if a person is eligible to receive a Home Care Package and determines the level of package an individual is eligible to receive.
