Home Care Packages provide individually planned and coordinated support services to help older people to remain living in their own home.
Home Care Packages are funded by the Commonwealth government and delivered by a range of aged care service providers including RusCare Ltd.
There are four levels of Home Care Packages:
Supports people with basic care needs (similar to CHSP services)
Supports people with low-level care needs (the former Community Aged Care Packages or CAPS’s)
Supports people with intermediate care needs
Supports people with high-level care needs (the former Extended Aged Care at Home EACH and Extended Aged Care at Home Dementia packages or EACHD)
The types of services provided under a Home Care Package depend on individual needs. The range of care and services include, but are not limited to, transport, social support, domestic assistance, personal care, home maintenance, home modification, nursing care, food service and medication.
Personal Care: Personal care services may support you to stay in your own home. Services may include everyday tasks such as bathing and getting dressed.
Domestic Care: Domestic help services can support you with practical tasks such as general housework and shopping. Its services like these that may help you to remain independent in your own home.
Transport: Transport services can help to get you to and from your appointments and around your community.
Health Support: There are a number of services that offer a range of therapies such as podiatry (foot care) or occupational therapy (help to recover, or maintain your physical ability) to help you to stay as active and healthy as you can be.
Social Support and Activities: Social support services can help you to maintain an active social life by having someone visit you in your home, or by arranging visits and outings in the community
Goods and Equipment: Goods and equipment services can help you maintain independence if you have a functional limitation (any health problem that prevents you from completing a range of tasks), or if you just find it difficult to carry out day-to-day living activities
Home Maintenance and Modification: Home maintenance and modification services may support you to stay in your own home by making your home safe and more secure. Services may include changing light bulbs, installing an emergency alarm or doing minor repairs.
How do I Access a Home Care Package?
In order to access funding for a Home Care Package, the person requiring support must be assessed by a member of the Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) team. The ACAS will assess if a person is eligible to receive a Home Care Package and determines the level of package an individual is eligible to receive.

At RusCare Ltd, Care Packages are designed to increase consumer’s choice, control and to meet individual needs.
Each consumer is assigned a dedicated care manager, who works with them, and others involved in their care planning and care management. Package recipients decide on the level of involvement in managing their own package.
We will provide with detailed information about the funds that are available to spend on the chosen services, the cost of those services, how much is being spent every month and how much balance is available, via monthly statement.
